July 14

In November my husband bought me a groupon from Touch of Class to have my car washed/waxed and detailed at a location down the street from us.  I decided to hold off until after winter and high pollen season, so I called to make an appointment this month.  Much to my surprise, the location down the road is closed, so he suggested I bring my car to the Providence location.  He told me they are located right by Federal Hill, so I could bring the car and walk around while the car was being worked on.  I went ahead and made an appointment - not much choice anyway if I wanted to use the groupon.

This morning I brought the car in at 11am to find the location was not in Federal Hill, but Olneyville.  I am glad I brought my husband with me because honestly, Olneyville is not really an area I should be walking around by myself at any hour.  Luckily my husband knows his way around and we were able to quickly find our way to Federal Hill.  The guy at the Touch of Class let us know they would call us when the car was ready and it should be around 1:30pm.  It's pretty hot outside today, so after our walk we found the first place we could to sit in the shade and have an iced coffee.  We also went into Venda Ravioli and I was amazed at all the authentic Italian food it had to offer.  Homemade pastas, sauces, sausages, cheese, cookies & sweets ... We would have purchased something to take home, but in a couple hours time outside, it would have been sure to spoil.  Next, Pastiche, which is well known for their pastries.  Since it was air conditioned, we ordered a fruit tart and enjoyed it inside the shop.  Best fruit tart I have ever had.  Worth every penny.  Walking back to the car place, we stopped to check prices out of various restaurants and decided we will return to Federal Hill for our anniversary.

Upon arrival back to my car, it had just started to be washed.  The guy inside said "It shouldn't be too much longer - 2 or 2:30.  What?!?!?!?  I explained we didn't have another car and that we had just been walking around and now we were going to wait at the shop.  He apologized and said the car would get done as soon as possible.  What the heck had they been doing all the time we were away?!?!? An 11am appointment is an 11am appointment!!!!!  I will say this, while we were waiting in their un-air conditioned place, they brought us ice cold bottled water, so they did want to make sure we were comfortable and happy.  Once the car was finished, it looked GREAT, so I am quite pleased with the finished product, just not sure we will return again - or we will just plan to drop the car off for pick up later on.

On the way home, we made a stop for a beer at Trinity Brewhouse.  It is kind of our go-to anytime we are in the area and after our morning, it was much needed!

Nachos tonight for dinner!
