This post brought to you by my brand new hard drive, finally installed and working on my 2007 laptop!!!! This should hopefully hold me over for at least 2 more years. Proud of myself for trouble shooting like crazy and never giving up on this machine. Big thanks to my buddy Dave for helping me out with all my crazy Mac questions. It only took a little over a week and $60. So how did I finally get it to work? The laptop itself was not recognizing the hard drive internally, so I purchased a USB SATA cord and connected the drive externally. From there, the drive was recognized and I was able to format it, the load the operating system. Once it was loaded, I reinstalled the hard drive internally, and like magic, it worked! Pretty proud moment.
