I really don't like to talk about work here, because much of it cannot be made public. However, this morning is worth a mention. Yesterday I had training. Tomorrow I have training. Both of which conflict with my other source of income (voice lessons). Today I was told I would have training next Wednesday as well. Already having to change my schedule around and plan make-up lessons with my students, I knew this might not be possible for me. I explained this and was told "this job comes first, and the training is mandatory." So I went ahead and spoke to another person who let me know that the training was important, but if I could not change my schedule, it would be offered again eventually, so not to fret. That put me at ease. Thankfully, I have been able to rearrange my schedule and I will indeed be able to go to training next week, but what happens when I cannot change my schedule? As a part-time employee, it seems there will be some flexibility - I hope. This job is important, and so is training, so I will always do my best to adjust accordingly, but things won't always work out. That's why there is always a make-up training!
As soon as I got home, I napped, caught up on the DVR, then ran 2-miles. Afterwards, I frantically started contacting everyone I know who might have a connection with NPR Music etc. because it was announced Tori would be doing a radio concert in NYC next week for them. Though it would be right before my New Hampshire getaway weekend with the husband, I would REALLY like to be there. So I am keeping my fingers crossed for tickets to this invite only event. If you know me, you know I will find a way. Anyone out there have connections?
Had some great lessons tonight. A new student with an excellent voice. I look forward to helping her develop as a singer. If I could run my own studio and nothing else, life would be grand.
