Spent the day at the Big E, which is billed as "New England's Great State Fair".  It is the largest fair in New England and the 6th largest in the country.  On the grounds of the fair there is livestock and animals, carnival rides, loads of food, vendors, concerts, and my favorite part:  The Avenue of the States.  This avenue contains smaller replicas of the 6 original New England statehouses.  Inside each statehouse are vendors and food that represent the state.  For example, in the Rhode Island statehouse: Del's, Hot Wieners, Stuffies, Johnny Cakes, but in Maine: Lobster rolls, blueberries, and Whoopie Pies.

As with all fairs, they deep fry just about anything: oreos, cheese curd, jelly beans, Girl Scout Cookies ... we went with the healthy alternative: a fried vegetable platter with Zucchini, Pickles, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Mushrooms, Green Beans, Onions, and Green Tomatoes.  YUM!  The Big E is also known for their giant Cream Puff.  So guess what I had for dessert?  No trip to a fair is complete without a visit to the beer garden.  I had a fantastic Watermelon Ale and Blueberry Lager from Opa Opa Brewing Company.  AWESOME.  Watched llama's compete in an obstacle course of walking, trotting, and jumping - kind of like horses.  Also saw a llama show - very similar to a dog show.  These are beautiful animals when groomed, and these people take their competition llama's very seriously.  They came from all over the country and have won many prizes for their animals.

All in all, a long but fun adventure.
