November 11

I have been married for 1 whole year.  Happy Anniversary!  Time flies when you are having fun!

And a Happy Veterans Day.  Thank you to all that serve our country.

When I got home from work, a wonderful frittata filled with spinach, mushroom, roasted red pepper, red onion, and cheese was waiting for me.  My husband used the cast iron skillet for the first time.  It was super yummy and absolutely perfect!  He is such a good chef.  I also made myself a Key Lime Martini with the Key Lime liqueur I made him go out and get last night (it's 5 o'clock somewhere!)  Seems there is only one store around here that sells this stuff - and it isn't even in Rhode Island!  I told him from now on, every year on our anniversary, to just make that my gift.  It is so delicious and a great way to remember our wonderful Key West wedding.

Making that Key Lime Martini made me think about drinks I absolutely adore.  So, here is my top-5 list.

5.  Pink Punk Cosmo from TGI Fridays.  It's essentially a cosmo, but the glass comes out filled with pink cotton candy and they pour the drink over it.  The cotton candy disintegrates into the cosmo when poured.  It makes for a really nice table side (bar side!) presentation.  I will warn you though, this drink is VERY sweet, but I love it.

4.  Briarhill Farms Bloody Mary Mix (NOT the mild) - just add Vodka and you have THE BEST Bloody Mary I have ever experienced.  Unfortunately, this mix can only be found at the Spanish Town Farmers Market in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

3.  Mojito from Willie T's in Key West.  I don't normally like Mojitos, but this one is to die for.  It's served with fresh ingredients including a stick of sugar cane.  And there are LOTS of flavors to choose from, but if you like Mojitos, I suggest you stick with the original.  AND on Mondays, it's buy one, get one free!

2.  Lavender Pear Martini from Ruby Tuesdays. These are made by mixing vodka and pear nectar.  Then they add a beautiful lavender tea bag after the fact.  I think they do this mostly for effect so you can watch your drink turn a lovely shade of lavender.  It is a pretty martini and truly scrumptious for under 150 calories!

1.  Key Lime Cosmo (NOT to be confused with the also delicious Key Lime Martini) from Tavern n Town in Key West.  I don't know what the exact ingredients in this thing is, but it is the most amazing Martini I have ever experienced.  I have tried to reproduce it in my own kitchen, but have not been successful.  Guess we are going back to Key West!

A runner-up:  Strawberry Abita Beer.  Not a mix drink, I had to mention it, because it is my favorite seasonal brew that I look forward to every year even though it's tough to find in New England!

Dropped my husbands car off at the dealership in the afternoon for it's 10-month maintenance, then came home and attempted to stay awake, but ended up napping for about an hour anyway.  We then picked Gram up and headed to the in-laws for an anniversary celebration dinner.  We ate cake from our "hometown" party last year, and amazingly, yet strange, the cake, which has been in the freezer for 9 months, was not frozen and tasted just as if we purchased it fresh from the store today.  How many preservatives were in that thing anyway?!?!?!?!

Came home and I am telling you, we are turning into a married old couple.  I am in bed by 7:30pm even if I don't have to work the next day and my husband follows shortly around 9pm.
