Last day of school vacation week. BOO. Went back to the dentist for my first of two cleanings and boy did it hurt! I never knew it could be so painful to scrape away plaque. My gums are swollen and in a lot of pain right now. But, much to my surprise instead of giving me a cheap disposable toothbrush, they handed me a REALLY nice electric toothbrush. I can only assume that each time I return for a cleaning, they will provide me with more replacement toothbrush heads. Sadly, since break ends today, I will not be able to return for the second cleaning and cavity filling until spring break at the end of April (I am supposed to come back in 2 weeks!) It's a shame I can't just take a half-day, but a substitute teacher only gets a daily rate, so such is life.
Had an audition in Boston this afternoon. I tried out a new audition song and for never rehearsing with an accompanist, it wasn't too bad - though I admit I made a few rhythmic mistakes. I also once again feel as though I wasn't completely "truthful" in my song. It felt a little pushed, but I think it will just get better with time. My nerves don't help that. I have another audition tomorrow and plan to use the same song. Practice makes perfect.
