Today, I once again go into retirement as a music teacher.  It's sad no one will hire me because I cost too much.  Who knew a Masters Degree would screw me over in my field of work?  So, next month I begin a new chapter, a new journey.  I am nervous, but happy to have found something.  Perhaps it will grow into something bigger and better.  It's just a damn shame the new job won't use any of what I went to college for.

The kids were full of hugs and sad to see me go, but at least this morning I got a little recognition from the teachers and students during the Flag Day ceremony.  I had been working on "Freedom" songs with the 3rd Graders - per their unit in Social Studies, and they got to sing them today in front of the rest of the school.  I couldn't have been prouder!  And when a 3rd Grade teacher got up to the mic to thank me, the entire school gave me HUGE cheers.  I am truly going to miss teaching.  But I can't be a long-term sub for the rest of my life, right?  Their loss.
