Last night, I couldn't have been a prouder voice teacher as my student sang a set at a local bar. She sounded fantastic singing favorites by Colbie Calliat and Adele. The bar loved her. She thanked me for all the help I have given her in the past few months and is sad I have to take a few months off from teaching. She promises to come back - as she has had a number of voice teachers she didn't like - and is recommending me to her friends. I guess I am good at what I do :)
This afternoon I was waiting for one of my students to arrive, when I heard a very loud sound of a car skidding. I took a peak out the window to spot a fight happening in the car that was sitting in the middle of the road right outside our house. Next thing I see, one fall out of the car and the other runs over to that one and throws a punch. Then the punching and fighting continues. Blood was gushing and I realized the two were the neighbors across the street - father and son. It was something serious and I was ready to call 911 when mom came to the house door and started yelling I don't know what. Dad ran inside and the son jumped back into the car and drove off. Scared the crap out of me and must have scared my student away as she never showed.
My Uncle-in-law is retired and spent the afternoon quahogging from his cayak yesterday. In return, he brought us a bucket full of quahogs. There must be 100 of them in there! We really only wanted a few in order to make some stuffies, but a bucket it is. My husband will spend tonight steaming and shucking them. I guess we will not only make stuffies, but a huge batch of clam chowder? Not sure, but we will figure something out for sure. Regardless, YUM!
