Well, I won't be winning the JRB Karaoke contest, but at least Jason Robert Brown was honest and provided fantastic feedback on my recording: Nice work, Phyllis, you have a lovely voice. I think you're pushing a little too much throughout, as though you're just "acting" it instead of really knowing it. You have to be careful, particularly in period pieces like "Parade", that you don't fall into imitation of what you think it SHOULD be, but rather that you find the version that's entirely yours. Start with nothing and build, word by word, phrase by phrase, note by note. Don't rush to "perform" the piece. You're well on the way!
This morning I went to my food stamps meeting. Turned in all our paperwork, will once again be back on the program, which is fantastic since we spend so much on groceries each month. Anything is helpful!
Reserved my Groupons that are about to expire. One for a wine tasting at Leyden Farm, which we will be doing with the in-laws, and the other for auto detailing on my car. Unfortunately, the auto detailing location close to our home has closed and I will have to bring my car to Providence for the service. Groupon fail. Also, purchased tickets to a wine event this weekend at Travessia, where we are members of the wine club.
Getting my haircut in a bit. Not sure how much will be coming off .......................
My husband is going to attempt to pick up his mom's bike tonight (while I teach my final voice lessons until September), so I can use it for some on-location filming Friday. I really hope he can figure out how to make the bike rack work on my hatchback, or I am not sure how it will be transported to Boston.
