March 1

For the first time in my teaching career, my classroom has been vandalized. If you can believe it, "bitch" was written a few times in the doorway of my room. And I know exactly who did it, so it came as quite a surprise to me because this kid is generally well behaved. This particular student needed a "time out" and because the entire class is a little out of hand, instead of sending him to my time-out chair in the classroom, I placed him in the hallway, so he wouldn't be distracted in order to finish up his written work. Shortly after class, during my lunch break, I noticed the writing on the wall - in black crayon. I don't have any sharpened pencils and my pencil sharpener is broken, so I had the kids write with crayons today. This particular child is one of the only students who had a black crayon and the proof was on the written assignment I gave him. He was also the only student who I placed in the hallway during that time. So, I went to his classroom and brought him back to mine and asked him to explain the graffiti. He denied it was him and came up with every possible excuse as to how it couldn't possibly be him. So, I let him go. I then went to the principal and put the matters in his hands. What else could I do? Guess that would make me a bitch. :P
