Both my voice lesson and acting lesson were cancelled this weekend by my students. Now I wish I had booked that promotional job. drat!
I spent my day lesson planning for the week and trying to organize my teaching plans for the rest of the school year. Only 11 more weeks of lessons! Then it's back on unemployment - unless someone decides to cast me in a show. PLEASE someone cast me in a show. I am getting nervous about all this. As for the fall, who knows?
Applied for one of my dream jobs today: Assistant Professor of Music Education (at Wichita State University)
Observe and critique student teaching in multi-level vocal and instrumental music education settings. Teach Senior seminar for student teachers. Coordinate with College of Education for music education field placements and program implementations for accredited teacher licensure program. Collaborate with faculty for placement of teacher education candidates, communicate with school district administration, cooperating teachers, and university personnel. Maintain databases of field placements and student records related to field experience.
So the location isn't a dream and my chances are slight that I would even get hired, but why not try, right? I have always wanted to help future music teachers learn how to teach in the real classroom.
