"March 12, 1912 will long be remembered as a historic occasion!" Happy 100th Birthday Girl Scouts!
I joined in 1986 - Brownie Troop 5, where I earned Brownie B's, learned how to make a sit-upon, and went to my first sleep away camp - Camp Potomac Woods! Then in Junior Troop 2201, I covered my vest with badges of all sorts and discovered my love for theatre with my first spoken line in a skit on the story of Girl Scouts "Hi y'all!" Next in Cadette Troop 1733, I began volunteering at Girl Scout Council office and also earned my Silver Award. Finally, as a member of Senior Troop 2046, I continued to volunteer at Girl Scout Council office, chaired a number of projects and conferences, attended 2 Wider Opportunities (in Texas and Pennsylvania), met the President and Vice President of the United States of America (Clinton & Gore), and earned my Gold Award. I was also one of 40 girls selected from all over the country to perform in the light opera "Daisy" based on the life of Juliet Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts. In college, I staffed a Wider Opportunity (in Hawaii), was a counselor at Girl Scout Camp (Camp Potomac Woods!) and sang on the 85th Anniversary Sing-a-long CD. Post college, I sang on the 90th Anniversary CD, lead sing-a-longs with various troops, returned to Girl Scout Camp as a theatre specialist, and volunteered at the 90th Anniversary Sing-a-long on the Mall.
So what am I doing now? Just waiting for the next opportunity ...
