I cannot seem to sleep in during my spring break!!!! But at least I was able to stay in my PJ's til noon. Later, I headed to campus for a monologue coaching with my acting teacher. He's really good. I wish my critiques were as in depth and focused as his. It proved to be more than helpful and makes me a little less nervous about performing alone for the class - and a panel of casting directors. I still have a lot of work to do.
I have been working a lot on lesson plans, as just about each grade is starting a new unit in May - which also means figuring out the least expensive way to teach. Sometimes you just can't teach without props. Earlier this week, it was the "shakey eggs" for $3. Today I found plastic "springs" in the pet aisle at the grocery store - $3. This will be perfect for teaching long and short notes to the little ones. I had no idea however, the springs would be such a hit with my cats. I mean, really? Plastic springs? Guess that's why they were labeled as cat toys. These have quickly become the favorite toy for BOTH of them. Good thing I have extra!
Showed up early as planned for Acting class and yet no one else was there. So me and my partner got a private coaching, which again was VERY helpful and made our scene during class run much more smoothly. I am excited to work on it more and REALLY hope I can get off book for it - though I never get critiqued about being off-book even though everyone else does. Strange for sure. They must know I suck at memorizing lines and can still successfully perform the scene with script in hand - right? ;)
Still in search of a play to see for FREE before May 9th in order to write a critique for class. ANYONE?!?!?!?!?
