Took the day off from teaching in order to head up to Boston for an audition. This particular audition was for a non-musical season, so I decided to use my monologue package that I worked on in Acting class rather than read from the sides (they gave us a choice). I did just as well as I did in class, but when I finished, all I got was a "thank you" and then I was free to leave. Honestly, it felt a little awkward. Usually in a musical audition, I get some sort of response or feedback afterwards, which makes me wonder - how did it actually go? I have no regrets, but what could I have done better?
Tonight, I teach 2 lessons and then it is back to school tomorrow. I had booked another audition in Boston, but after reading the breakdown, decided there really wasn't any appropriate role for me in their upcoming season, so I cancelled and will be making money instead, by teaching. The better choice, I think.
