May 4

What a partly hellish day of travel.  Flew out of Providence at 6am.  Was about to land in Atlanta around 9am, however the captain got on the speaker a few minutes into what we thought would be a landing: "Ladies and Gentleman, there is a nasty storm going through Atlanta right now, and there is just not enough gas in our plane to remain in the air while it passes, so we are diverting to Montgomery, Alabama, where we will land and refill our tank, and as soon as the weather clears we will be back in the air."  WHAT?!?!?!?!?  So we land and sit on the tarmac for a good hour and a half.  It was evident the entire plane needed to pee because as soon as I got up to get in line, there were already 20 people ahead of me and when I looked behind, there were about 15 behind me.  Insane.  We get back into the air and land in Atlanta exactly when our next flight was taking off.  I checked the departure screens and noticed that flight seemed to also be delayed, so we jetted as fast as we could to that gate.  Once we reached that gate, the screen said "Tulsa, Oklahoma".  We had missed our connection.  Customer service put us on standby for the next flight out and gave us actual seats on the flight after that.  Walking to the next gate, we passed the former gate and noticed the screen had changed to "Baton Rouge, Louisiana".  WHAT?!?!?!!?  We were just reissued tickets, yet our flight had not left yet?!?!?!!?  I immediately ran to the counter and explained to the woman we *were* booked for the flight currently boarding.  She looked us up and thankfully, gave us our seats back.  We were even lucky enough that our baggage made it onto that flight too!

The rest of the day is pretty much a blur as I was exhausted.  We had a rehearsal at the church for mom's wedding, followed by rehearsal dinner at my Aunt's house.  So nice to see people I haven't seen in ages - most especially Alan and Shirly, who live in Australia!
