I have a voice student who is just a little bit younger than myself, who has no musical background (except the things she remembers from elementary music). This makes it a challenge because it is not easy to learn any instrument as an adult - this includes your voice. I have had her for a little over a month and thus far we have worked on theory, sight singing, and one song. Tonight I introduced her to a new song and I was quite pleased with her sight reading ability. Though not perfect (yet), she gets better each time we meet. With her first lesson, she could only sing about 5 notes on pitch, but now she is up to a little over an octave. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, but I hope she will continue to progress and meet her goal of being able to sing an Adele song by the end of 2012.
