Last night I saw The Descendants
A land baron tries to re-connect with his two daughters after his wife suffers a boating accident.
Director: Alexander Payne
Stars: George Clooney, Shailene Woodley, and Amara Miller
It was pretty good. I loved Amara Miller. The relationships she created with the other actors and her comic timing were priceless. George Clooney also did a nice job, but I can't help feel like he plays the same character in all his movies. Also commendable was Judy Greer. In the end, it was a touching story that I am glad I had the opportunity to see.
Tonight I saw Bridesmaids
Competition between the maid of honor and a bridesmaid, over who is the bride's best friend, threatens to upend the life of an out-of-work pastry chef.
Director: Paul Feig
Writers: Kristen Wiig, Annie Mumolo
Stars: Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph and Rose Byrne
What a cute movie. I have never liked Kristen Wiig on Saturday Night Live, but in this film, she was great! I guess I prefer comedies because this one kept my interest. Melissa McCarthy was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role, which is interesting because she was funny, but so were the "bridesmaids". I wish Chris O'Dowd had been nominated. He was adorable. Maybe it was the Irish accent.
