... and then I check the music mailbox at school this morning and the old name has been replaced with mine - and I'm the sub! yup, minus the fact I get paid a daily rate - which means, no school, no pay - I'm pretty official. And you guessed it, I am the only teacher not wishing for a snow day.
This afternoon the principal walked into my room to speak with a student (who I later found out is about to be suspended) and all 26 kids were on task and having a great time. The principal looked both shocked and pleased. I don't want to speak too soon, but I think it is fairly safe to say if I want a job in the school system next year, it's mine. But how much do I really want it?
... and then I was showered with hugs ... and the kids smile and say hello to me in the hallways (even the "bad" kids). I think they are warming up to me FINALLY!
