Rejoice Greatly! The 7th Annual Open Messiah Sing was today, and for the 3rd year I was the soprano soloist.

I love having the opportunity to sing what I find to be one of the most difficult pieces I have worked on, on my own, and though I am not perfect, each year I believe I get stronger. As soloists, we only rehearse once with the organist, and the chorus doesn't get a chance to rehearse at all. Anyone who comes can be a part of the chorus, which is what I love. You never know who is going to show up and it really brings the community together.

This year, my name change was announced and many people in Rhode Island are familiar with my new last name, so compliments were followed with "you married into a great family!" but my favorite was when a woman turned to my husband and said "so happy you married her!" That made me smile.

Til next year Messiah ... til next year ...
